In 2017, I moved from Colorado to Alaska. By car. Traveling that far and arriving at your destination doesn’t happen by accident. It took planning. I had to figure out the roads I was going to take and know, at least in part, where I was headed. Technology certainly helps (thank you Google Maps), but you can’t rely on technology to get you there when cell service isn’t reliable.
Growing your business and reaching your business goals also doesn’t happen by accident. It takes planning. And you need a financial roadmap to help you get there. But how do you put together a financial roadmap?
Step 1) Analyzing Financial Data
If you don’t know where you are starting from, it’s harder to get where you are going. It’s also important to make sure that your tools aren’t holding you back. Before going on a road-trip, you need to take your car to a mechanic. Before you try to launch a growth strategy for your business, you need to take your financial accounts to a bookkeeper.
When we do an analysis of financial data, we look for problems that could get you in trouble on taxes or otherwise hurt your finances. We also forecast your finances based on your current books to help you see the gaps between where you are and where you want to go.
Step 2) Setting Long and Short Term Financial Goals
Big goals are helpful. They give you something to aim at for the long term. But if you only set long term goals that are really really big, you’ll find yourself facing off against the wear and tear of business without any successes to celebrate.
We will help you identify attainable goals along your way towards that big goal. Like mile markers, every one you pass will move you one step closer to financial success.
Step 3) Planning and execution
Multiple roads lead to the same place financially. But which one works best for you? That’s part of what we address in the planning stage. We will present you with options and methods you can begin implementing to achieve your goals.
And you don’t have to do it alone. If you’ve worked with us to develop the roadmap, we are available to help you execute it and be your “navigator” to help you reach your goals.
